Since 2010, MCE has invested more than $2.1 billion in new California renewable projects, increasing the renewable energy content on the grid and supporting a clean energy workforce. Read MCE’s blog to stay up to date with new local projects and see your dollars at work.

In 2018, MCE signed a contract to purchase the energy from a 100-megawatt wind farm in northern Santa Barbara County. This wind generation will provide enough electricity to power 30,000 average homes annually.

The roads and foundations have been built, and the turbine blades are being delivered to the site. The blades are so massive that they require a special truck to move the blades up, down, and side to side to negotiate turns and avoid obstacles. Day one was such a spectacle that Lompoc residents, including a local school, turned out to watch.
