Located in San Rafael, MCE is a Community Choice Aggregation program that provides 50-100% renewable energy as an alternative to PG&E’s electric supply. MCE determines the source and cost of the energy and PG&E continues to manage the transmission and distribution of the energy. MCE also provides energy efficiency programs to its member communities. MCE is a public, not-for-profit joint powers authority. Members of the agency include the County of Marin and its towns and cities, unincorporated Napa County, and the cities of Richmond, Benicia, San Pablo, and El Cerrito.

MCE is committed to providing its employees with competitive compensation, based upon labor market standards within similar public agencies with similarly situated positions. Also factored into establishing compensation levels is the cost of living index, which is based on reports from the Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics.

MCE values its employees and is committed to providing salaries, health benefits, and leaves that are in-line with both public and private employers to the extent possible while remaining a fiscally responsible agency.

MCE contributes to benefits for employees including a 401(a) retirement plan, a monthly allotment for health, dental, and vision coverage, and long term disability and life insurance. Employees may voluntarily contribute to a 457 (b) plan to augment the agency’s defined contribution plan. MCE employees are covered by California State Disability Insurance (which may be used for short-term disabilities as well as Pregnancy Disability Leave) and California Paid Family Leave. Leave provided by MCE to its employees consists of holidays, vacation, personal leave, administrative leave, and maternity-paternity leave.
