To support the development of additional EV charging stations at affordable housing properties in Marin, MCE is offering:
● 100% free EV chargers for qualified properties
● Full project management, technical assistance and installation support
● EV training and education for staff members and tenants

MCE is working to create equitable communities by building a clean energy infrastructure and a green economy in communities that have been historically marginalized. In 2022, MCE received a $180,000 grant from the Marin Community Foundation (MCF) to support EV charging in Multifamily properties in Marin County. MCE is dedicating the grant to provide free EV charging at 150 affordable multifamily housing units, making cleaner and more affordable transportation accessible and convenient.

What EV charging support is available?

With the grant provided by the Marin Community Foundation, MCE is offering the following benefits to qualified affordable housing properties in Marin County:

  • Full upfront funding to cover the cost of new EV chargers
  • Free installation, project management, and technical assistance from GRID Alternatives
  • Training for facilities staff to learn how to operate and maintain EV charging stations
  • Educational materials for tenants to learn about EVs, charging, and available rebates

Is my property eligible for additional funding through MCF?

To be eligible for funding and services from the MCF grant, you must:

  • Receive MCE service in Marin County
  • Be a multifamily property with 4+ units that will offer EV charging to renters
  • Be designated as affordable housing
  • Install EV chargers at unassigned spots OR those only assigned to affordable units
