MCE has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement with BayWa r.e. Wind, LLC for 100% of the output of the approximately 101 MW Strauss Wind Project. Once built and online, the project is expected to provide clean energy for over 24,000 homes and save an estimated 223,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

“We’re proud to be working with BayWa r.e. to continue to expand California’s wind industry,” said Dawn Weisz, CEO of MCE. “We’re gratified that BayWa r.e. plans to hire locally for construction, helping to support in-state job creation, economic strength, and tackle climate change by transitioning our communities to 100% renewable energy.”

MCE and its partners have committed over $1.8 billion to build over 910 MW of new renewable energy projects in California. This includes $913 million committed  for 365 MW of new wind, $905 million for 535 MW of new solar, and $25 million for 12 MW new biogas projects.

“We applaud MCE for their leadership in expanding their renewable footprint and congratulate them on their recent investment grade credit rating. We look forward to working with MCE on this exciting project,” states Florian Zerhusen, CEO of BayWa r.e. Wind, LLC.
