Celebrate Lafayette 50th Anniversary Party and say hello to MCE staff! Lafayette became a City on July 29, 1968, and July 29, 2018, will be the date of our 50th Anniversary celebration. Events will begin at 2:30 p.m., in the Community Hall at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center, with an informal reception honoring those who made Lafayette possible, including former and current Councilmembers, Citizens and Business Persons of the Year, long-term business owners, residents and others. People will be imparting memorable moments in Lafayette’s first fifty years as a city. If you’d like to tell your historic stories of Lafayette – or if you just want to listen to tales of the City – simply arrive at the Community Hall.
The main event is from4 pm- 7 pm and will include a special Back Forty Texas BBQ dinner along with entertainment from Dave Martin’s House Party band, a kid zone with games and activities and a parade at 5 pm. There will also be historical displays with Town Hall actors in costume, community organizations with tables and something for everyone. There is really something for everyone. Don’t miss this historic event.
