Get Paid to Help Your Customers Save

Compared to traditional energy efficiency programs, our FLEXmarket programs pay for the actual grid value of energy savings, resulting in more profits for your energy efficiency and load-shifting projects.

Program Options

MCE’s Commercial & Residential Efficiency Market programs

For implementing long-term energy efficiency measures. Pairs well with energy efficiency providers who can install the following measures:

  • Building Envelope

  • Chillers

  • HVAC

  • Lighting

  • Refrigeration

  • Water Heating

MCE’s Peak FLEXmarket program

For shifting energy usage away from peak hours in the summer and during demand response events when the grid is most constrained. Pairs well with demand response providers who can implement clean energy strategies including:

  • Behavioral changes

  • Adjusting building or equipment controls

  • Discharging battery storage

MCE does not accept fossil-fuel technologies such as back-up diesel generators or natural gas-fired solutions.

What You Get

COMMERCIAL & RESIDENTIAL EFFICIENCY MARKET

  • 20% upfront cash payment of the forecasted value of your energy efficiency projects. You’ll get money in your pocket as soon as you start installing projects, limiting your risk and preserving your cash flow. Most projects save at least 20% of their estimated value.

  • Extra payments for the additional metered savings on your projects, beyond the initial guaranteed payment value.

PEAK FLEXMARKET

  • Variable payments for your energy impacts delivered at the meter. There is no preference for the type of technologies or strategies you use to generate the savings.
  • Flex Savings: Payment for daily energy load shedding or shifting during peak hours (4-9 p.m. from June 1-October 31) is based on the value of energy at the time you reduce your usage. The average value of energy saved for gross peak (from 4-7 p.m.) is $0.35 per kWh and for net peak (from 7-9 p.m.) is $0.60 per kWh. Actual value varies per hour per day.

  • Demand Response: Payment for energy load shedding or shifting during demand response events is valued at $2.00 per kWh.
