As a not-for-profit agency, giving back to our community is very important to us. As an MCE customer, a portion of your ratepayer dollars will be reinvested in community projects and programs, instead of shareholder profits and dividends.
MCE’s best-in-California Feed-In Tariff program, made possible by ratepayer revenues, helps us promote and manage local renewable energy projects. MCE has a standard-offer contract, called a Feed-in Tariff, available to anyone in the MCE service area who wants to sell power produced by small-scale renewable energy projects.
We’ve supported some great projects with our Feed-in Tariff Program, like the San Rafael Airport Solar Project, the largest solar project in Marin County, which also created 20 local jobs over a 3-month period. Next on deck: we’ve broken ground on a 1-megawatt solar shade structure in Novato. These projects help us all to create and support more local renewable energy.
Marin County Bay Area Green Business Program
MCE funds Marin’s Green Business Program, a partnership of business leaders, government agencies, and non-profit organizations that promotes businesses that continuously comply with environmental regulations, conserve resources, use pollution and waste prevention methods, and share environmentally responsible practices with other businesses.
Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
MCE provided funding for the installation of five electric vehicle charging stations in our service area. To find a charging station near you, visit Plug Share.
Bidgely Home Area Network Devices
MCE partnered with Bidgely to offer free Home Area Network devices to 50 MCE customers. The software analyzes PG&E SmartMeter data to show users exactly how much energy their household appliances consume at any given time, how much it costs them, and the best ways to reduce their energy usage.
